According to their website, the SMBC will have some of America’s most experienced Bigfoot researchers and investigators including Cliff Barackman, Bigfoot Field Researcher and co-host of Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot to share stories of their investigation and encounters. There will also be time for a Q and A after each speaker.
Now, the website claims “This is gearing up to be the biggest Bigfoot conference in the southeast”. which got me curious. Are there other Bigfoot Conferences that I was unaware of?
A quick Google search and I discovered that Texas has held one for over 15 years. And it has expanded to a 2-day conference in October. Ohio also has one .The state of Washington hosts the International Convention on Labor Day weekend.
In North American folklore, Bigfoot or Sasquatch are said to be hairy, upright-walking, ape-like creatures that dwell in the wilderness and leave footprints. Depictions often portray them as a missing link between humans and human ancestors or other great apes.
Texas ranks in the Top 10 for Bigfoot sightings. In North Carolina, multiple sightings of the giant hairball have led to one town, Marion, naming it their official animal. According to another source there have been 147 sightings, some recently, in Missouri.
