It’s that time of the year where children scream in delight at things that go bump in the night. And where adults get to act like kids again. And why should the kids have all the fun? Here are 5 great recipes for adult treats that are sure to wow at your next Halloween party. And some tips for adding a bit more of a scare!

7. Rosemary’s Baby

  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary needles
  • 1/2 lemon
  • splash grenadine
  • Tonic Water
  • Ice

Muddle rosemary and squeeze lemon. Strain into cocktail shaker add gin . Shake. Pour over rocks in tall glass. Splash grenadine. Top with tonic and give a quick stir!

Add small glow sticks to the bottom of the glass to give your drinks an eerie glow

5. Carrie (Bloody Hell Cocktail)

  • Grape Jello prepared
  • Strawberry Jello Prepared
  • 1 1/2 oz. vodka
  • ice
  • grenadine
  • Lemon Lime Seltzer (Sprite or 7 up will work also)

Add Jello to a tall glass, just a bit of each, doesn’t need to be in squares. Add ice, vodka, and soda. Stir GENTLY. Now take a spoon, turn it upside down over drink and slowly pour. The red will stick to the foam giving it a true “bloody” look.

4. The Exorcist (Pea Green Margaritas)

  • Green Food Coloring
  • Yellow Food Coloring
  • 1 oz. Triple Sec
  • 2 oz. Silver Tequila
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • black sugar or hickory smoked sea salt
  • 1/4 sliced lime

Take 1/4 lime and run around rim of a short glass. Then dip in salt or sugar. Ad ice. Put vodka, lime juice, triple sec into shaker and shake well. Pour over ice. add 2 drops green coloring and 1 yellow. Stir , adding yellow coloring until you reach that glorious pukey green color from Linda Blair’s infamous scene.

2. Night Of The Living Dead (Zombie Cocktail)

  •  1 oz. Light Rum
  • 1 oz. Dark Rum
  • 2 oz. OJ
  • 1 oz. apricot juice
  • Dash lime bitters
  • Ice
  • 1 oz. Bacardi Rum 151
  • Cherry for garnish

Combine juices, light rum and dark rum , and bitters in shaker. Shake well. Poor over tall glass of ice. Turn over a spoon and float the 151 on top. Add cherry. Drink carefully.

1. The Shining (Glowing Jello Shots)

  • Black Light
  • 2 oz. disposable cups
  • 1 box blue or green Jello
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • 3/4 cup coconut rum
  • 2 cups tonic water ( This makes it “glow”)

Bring tonic water to boil.Add jello and stir to dissolve jello. Add alcohol. Stir. take off and let cool off just a bit. Pour into cups. Refrigerate until set. Serve in front of black light!
