Multi-platinum entertainer Chris Young closed the summer run of his “Raised On Country World Tour 2019,” in Florida headlining venues in  Jacksonville, Tampa, and West Palm Beach. Since launching the North American leg in May, Chris has played to over 300,000 fans this summer, with headlining shows across the USA.  Chris will kick-off the fall leg of his “Raised On Country World Tour 2019” on September 26 in Erie, PA, joined by special guests Eli Young Band and Matt Stell, with 19 new shows through November. The tour resumed just days after “Drowning,” penned in memory of a close friend, was released to country radio. “Drowning,” along with “Raised On Country” and “Town Ain’t Big Enough,” featuring Lauren Alaina, are available now and will be included on his upcoming studio album. https://www.chrisyoungcountry.com/

Singer-songwriter Phil Vassar is bringing his 20 years of hits to venues across the country with Stripped Down, an intimate, acoustic show in 14 cities from coast to coast with more dates to be added. Brett Sheroky will be supporting Vassar on select shows throughout the tour. The Stripped Down tour coincides with an EP launch by the same name, and features new material, guest artists collaborations, and “Postmarked Birmingham” (written by Vassar with Don Sampson & originally recorded by BlackHawk). Tickets on sale now at https://www.philvassar.com/ and the EP will be available January 2020. “We’re peeling back the music to the core with just a piano and guitar, so we can give fans an intimate evening of conversation and music. It’s how these songs were written and I think it will be a fun, unique experience,” Vassar shared.

Number One… times TWO!  On Tuesday afternoon, Eric Church celebrated his two most recent No. 1 hits “Some Of It” (written by Eric Church, Jeff Hyde, Bobby Pinson, Clint Daniels) and “Round Here Buzz” (written by Eric Church, Jeff Hyde, Luke Dick).  These guys are all GREAT writers and are buddies of mine so it was great to celebrate their latest success with them.  Nashville is the only place that really celebrates the songwriters, and they are the ones who make hits happen!

“I Know Country” Q&A from www.IKnowCountry.com

QUESTION: Which album by George Strait was the first ever to debut on the Billboard Country Album Charts at the Number One position?

When Cody Johnson wanted to record some ‘classic’ Country, he knew where to turn to: the writers who were writing songs back in the ‘90’s. Durango Management went looking for songs for Johnson and sent out an unusual request to songwriters. They only wanted songs written before 2000.  According to a report in Billboard’s Country Update, Durango’s A&R executive Scott Gunter started receiving a lot of previously-unrecorded songs from writers who were the “go-to guys” at the end of the 20th century. “I’ve never had that request before,” says independent song plugger Sherrill Blackman of the pre-2000 guideline. “That’s what made it so intriguing: that they don’t want any of the modern stuff.” So there’s hope for fans of fans of ‘classic’ Country – and songwriters who create those songs. “What Cody is drawn to is a more classic lyric,” says Gunter. “It’s classic songwriting without the current terminology, without the current phrasing.”  More at https://www.codyjohnsonmusic.com/
