A late night/ early morning tornado has killed 2 in East Nashville, Tennessee. Many popular restaurants and businesses have been destroyed and 100s of homes damaged. Gas leaks and downed power lines are the biggest issue as this is being written at 4:15 a.m. CST. Compacting that is another line of storms pounding the area at this time.

In Putnam County, 3 more have been confirmed dead from the same storm system.

In Wilson County multiple homes and businesses were destroyed.

The Tornado Warning came late according to multiple sources. It was a system that had spawned tornado warnings late evening, but, had appeared to weaken. When it re-formed just outside of Nashville, it was quick and fatal at approximately 12:35 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Shelters have been set up. The East Nashville area was a popular area for diners and bars. Most of those now destroyed. As the sun eventually comes up, devastation is expected to be the scene.

Multiple schools are closed, and the impact on Super Tuesday polling spots is massive.

The area in East Nashville has been described as a “War Zone”.

Tennessee State University was heavily damaged, fortunately, students were on Spring Break.
